Ancient Post Count History

Smoe ancient history: Way back in the early days, when dinosaurs roamed the plains, smoebody at CU decided to let people choose their own title when they reached 10,000. Probably the dumbest thing they ever did, next to Elmo canning the Open Forum. The race was on.

Shironiichan was way ahead of everybody, at smoething like 6000 posts. It was a given he'd make it first. Second were TJennings (TJ), and GMarguli (Smoetimes known as Gereg because TJ called him that once). Shiro made it across the finish line easily, but TJ and Gereg battled it out, including taking days off to catch up toward the end. I think Gereg made it first, but I could be wrong. He used several browsers at a time and made huge jumps in his count in one shot, which confused the heck out of TJ. People cheated back then, racking up scores of posts in the Testing Forum. It was there the term cheet was created, by smoe guy named Jason.

There was also me, Stockwiz, and littlewicher behind TJ and Gereg. We cheeted a lot, I'm embarrassed to say. Well, I'm not that embarrassed, because who really cares? I don't remember who got there first, but me and Stockwiz beat littlewicher easily. Then came Braddick. Shortly after Braddick made it over, we had a meeting at a park in Irvine. TJ, Gereg, Braddick, Shiroh, and clw54. The only person over 10,000 who wasn't there was Stockwiz, but he was in Wisconsin or wherever. He should have flown out.

I took the name Thread Resuscitator because I liked to bring back old threads when there was smoe connection to a more current thread. I don't do that much anymore, maybe once every two years at the Coin Forum. There might be one or two people who understand it.

One thing interesting happened to people back then when they were over 9000 posts. They tended to have forum nervous breakdowns. They're called meltdowns around here. It happened to the first pioneers, but after a while it didn't mean anything and people didn't break down. It was kind of like climbing Everest in the early days, but lots of people do it now.

And there was one guy who made it to 10,000 in about three days. CarolJ set his post count back to one. But the really funny part is that his title always said New Member, no matter what his his count was. Wish I remembered who it was now.
